This is friendly and nurturing school located in Muswell Hill. Norfolk House it has been School absorbed The Montessori House Nursery in 2014 and caters for both boys and girls aged between 2 and 11 years old. It was founded in 1896 as a boy’s preparatory school and became co educational in 1992. The school is split over two sites with Nursery to Year 1 in Princes Avenue and Years 2-6 on Muswell Avenue a short walk away. The nursery offers flexible hours with morning only, afternoon only or full-time places available. Pupils come from a wide range of professional backgrounds and the majority live locally and are from white British origin. There are a small number of children with special educational needs all of whom receive additional on-site support. The recent ISI inspection report found pupil’s academic and other achievements to be excellent., there was particular reference to the excellent knowledge and skills children have developed and the high order questioning and reasoning they display. Areas to develop include providing more structured PE opportunities and making Early Years teaching more consistent across the board. PE takes place twice a week and the children are taught by sport specialists. On site space is limited but children make full use of the sports provision in the local area including Finchley Lido, Highgate wood, Albert Recreation Grounds and Broomfield Park. The school offers a broad range of extracurricular clubs including chess, boxing, Spanish, debate, movie making, cookery, singing, multi-sports, ballet, football, arts and crafts and dance. Children gain places at a very good range of schools at 11+ including some very academic institutions (Highgate, HABS, NLC, South Hampstead, City of London)
