King’s College School Wimbledon is currently the boys’ school of choice amongst parents in South West London. Excellent results, impressive facilities and a glittering alumni make it understandably desirable. The school offers both A Levels and the IB and has the added bonus of being co-educational at sixth-form so that by the time the boys leave for university they are use to interacting with girls in an academic setting. About a quarter of pupils will gain a place at Oxbridge every year and the rest will go on to Russell Group universities or, as is increasingly popular, American Universities. Only the brightest will gain admission, although the Head Master says that they are above all looking for kind boys who will make the most of the opportunities on offer. Admission is at 7+, 8+, 11+ (60 boys, approx. 50/50 prep school/primary school) and 13+ (40 boys). At 11+ the assessment includes tests in Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning, followed by an interview.
