This friendly and successful school was started with the aim of providing multi-sensory learning and teaching to ensure all abilities of children were able to access their education. The school is housed in a compact and attractive building with lovely, light modern classrooms. Academically children excel from individualized teaching and over the last 3 years Hornsby house has gained 53 scholarships for 11+. There are relatively small classes (around 20 children) and the school puts a particular focus on a balanced curriculum with excellent DT, Music and Sport facilities. Sport is particularly strong with excellent range of sport tours and successful teams in cricket, football, hockey, rugby and netball. Over the last decade, Hornsby House has earned itself a good local reputation for offering a lively all-round education to pupils of varying abilities. French is offered for reception to year 4 then Spanish for years 5 and 6. There is no assessment for Reception entrance at 4 years old and places are awarded in order of the age of the child at the date of registration with priority to siblings. Early registration is essential! Boys go onto London day schools with half of the boys going to Whitgift (an excellent boys senior school in south London). Other go to Alleyns’s, Dulwich College, Kings Wimbledon (via new 11+ entry), Emanuel with a few to bearding schools. In 2017 24 academic scholarships [;us awards for music, sport, art and all-rounders. In 2019 girls were offered places at SCHS (17), Allleyns (7), JAGS (6 offers) Sydenham High School (8).
