Hampstead Hill School is a very popular and successful pre-prep school located in a converted church with good playground and outside space and a short walk from Hampstead village. The school takes children as young as 2.5 years old and prepares them for 7+ entrance exams with an excellent record of getting children places in the schools of their choice. The most recent Ofsted report rated the school as ‘Outstanding’ and cited the ‘substantial progress’ all children made, and the consistently excellent teaching. It also recognised the excellent curriculum and high academic standards “Consistently excellent teaching in English and mathematics enables pupils to acquire skills and knowledge well beyond those expected for their age.” There is no assessment for entrance into the nursery so it is important to register with the school as early as possible. Hampstead Hill School has a warm, family orientated atmosphere and while the majority of children join in Nursery there are more places available at Reception level. Sport plays an important role with weekly swimming and PE lessons in the Royal Free Recreation Centre from Year 1 onwards. There are 5 after school clubs currently available and they are Drama, Gymnastics, Chess, Ballet and ICT. The majority of boys gain places in UCS school (20) at 7+ but Belmont and Highgate are also popular destinations with total of 30 children gaining places this year.

In 2019 the school has exceptional results with boys being offered places at UCS Pre Prep (20), Wetehrby (2), Westminster Under (5), St Paul’s Junior (4) and a whopping 18 to Highgate.

Girls did similarly well and were offered places at City of London Girls (8), South Hampstead High (10), Highgate (12), Alleys (1) and Queen’s College (2)
