A unique and family run school- established and led for over 40 years by Australian headmistress Mogg Hercules MBE. The new head, Maria Blake, has only just taken over the reigns and seeks to continue Mrs Hercules legacy of creating a holistic education producing confident and enthusiastic learners. Parents are generally pretty liberal and relaxed and the enjoy Dallington’s small village school atmosphere. There are 26 children in reception and there is no selection process, classes further up are smaller with an average class size of 16 pupils and only 140 pupils in the entire school. The school day starts at 8:40 and after school clubs run till 5:15 pm, and the school is open 36 weeks a year. The school building offers bright and airy classrooms with a basement studio for dance, music and gym. There is a good range of extra curricular classes including Irish dance, football, art, young explorers and mindful chess. The most recent ofsted in 2018 judged the school to be outstanding in all areas, which is no small achievement. The report commended the head’s inspirational leadership as well as the excellent progress all children make and the outstanding teaching. PLEASE DELETE Staff are ambitious and have specialist skills such as dance and music provide all pupils with the best quality support. Teachers manage to create ‘exiting and meaningful’ learning experiences. Exit results show a broad ability level and include a good amount of children leaving to academic schools such as St Christopher Letchworth, City of London (Boys and Girls), Queens College, St Paul’s Cathedral and Ecole Jeannine Manuel, There is also a good amount going to less traditionally academic options such as The Forest School, Portland place and King Alfred School.
